A traditional fish and chip shop in Bristol recently launched a vegan menu – and was amazed to sell out of every item in a single day.
The Clock Tower Fish Bar, in the city’s Kingswood area, was recently listed as one of the region’s favorite chippies in a list compiled by local news outlet the Bristol Live.
In a bid to cater to more diners, the eatery launched its vegan menu, which features dishes including plant-based fish made from banana blossom, battered sausage, a burger, and mushroom dippers among others – with the fish option the most popular so far.
‘The response was amazing’
Speaking to Bristol Live, Ebony Kenington – who runs the business with James Harris – said: “We’ve been thinking about launching a plant-based menu for a while as there are so many vegans in Bristol and we often get asked if we have vegan options.
“I guess we put it off is because we weren’t sure how it would go down, but after we were named one of the best chippies in Bristol by Bristol Live readers it gave us the confidence to finally take the plunge and do it.
“We launched the new menu on September 29 and the response was amazing. We sold out of every option, which we really weren’t expecting.”
