Pro footballer Aaron Ñiguez Esclapez has described veganism as a ‘way of life’ and not just a diet.
The athlete, who plays for Malaga CF and is the CEO of Club Costa City, made the comment in an upcoming interview with Plant Based News.
‘I’ve always loved animals’
Speaking about why he ditched animals and adopted a plant-based diet, Esclapez told PBN: “I’ve always had a love for animals, and I also wanted to improve my sports performance, so I started researching to inform myself.
“I watched documentaries, news, and interviews of all kinds. My life partner [also] loves animals very much. We have supported each other and informed ourselves as much as possible about everything [that] society hides…”
‘Taking care of the planet’
Esclapez also stated that a diet without animal-products is the ‘most nutritious’ – and that he ‘enjoys all kinds of foods’ including vegetables, fruits, legumes.
He added: “But above all being vegan is a way of life, a way of being, of taking care of the planet, and avoiding animal suffering.”
