Cruelty-free beauty giant The Body Shop has debuted a new range of vegan bath products made from food waste.

The company, which was brought from L’Oreal by Natura Cosmeticos back in 2017, has launched four new bath blends in time for International Bath Day (June 14.)

The products retail at £8.00 for a 250ml bottle – which is 100 percent recyclable and made with 50 percent recycled plastic. Scents include Banana, Pear, Mango, and Berry.

Berries leftover from jam making, second-choice wonky bananas, and repurposed fruit from the food industry have all been used in the new range – some of which have already sold out due to popular demand.

‘Fragrantly fruity’

“Give your bath time a boost with our fragrantly fruity, velvety Bath Blends,” The Body Shop wrote on its website.

“More than your average bubble bath, we’ve blended super fruits and vegetables known for being rich in vitamins and antioxidants.”

‘Memorable experiences’

Last year, The Body Shop trialed a shower gel refill station in one of its London outlets – which the brand originally scrapped in the late 1990s.

According to The Guardian, Managing Director at The Body Shop Linda Campbell said: “Overall, the idea is for shoppers to have a bit of fun and to have some memorable experiences.

“Some aspects of the pilot, if successful, are likely to be rolled out to other stores in Europe and North America.”
